ITEM: Where creations are actually made
The Brand Concept
The idea for ITEM emerged as I asked myself the question, “What if we digitized the process of ideation?” In this rapid brand ideation I am sharing here, I’ve developed a kind of meta idea for ideas themselves.
ITEM is a marketplace for ideas. We believe in:
The Craft of Ideation: Respecting the process of refining raw thoughts into valuable innovations
Individuality Through Collaboration: Making individual ideation tangible in collective development
Visuals for ITEM came to life quickly at the intersection of fashion, film, brand, and digital portfolios. The design I had in mind was tugging on a “FACTOR” aesthetic. It’s a digital experience that feels like your favorite pair of jeans with a stylistic all-about-the-vibe vibe.
Voice & Tone
Too many hours spent watching HBO’s Silicon Valley, perhaps? ITEM speaks the language of creators with the future-forward tone of founders:
Creating shared space: We are all created to create. Ideas live here.
Holding the vision: Bid. Branch. Build the future.
Users arriving at ITEM find:
Tools to shape ideas
Communities to support them
Resources to test and validate potential
What emerges is their idea itemized, digitizing the process of networking ideas and validating their marketability at the same time.
Cultural Positioning
The messy, beautiful process of ideation now has a digital home where it can happen with more diverse input and greater scale.
At ITEM, we empower creators by giving them tools to fund and evolve their ideas. While crowdfunding platforms connect market products to multiple funders, ITEM exists in the critical space where concepts are still malleable, transferable assets. Similar to crowdsourcing, it’s marketplace where anyone can be a venture capitalist but with one fundamental difference: they can individually own ideas by bidding on them.
